Riku Ryu

Throughout my high school years, I had three dragons that often drew. The first was a rather generic green dragon named Drake, who was my buddy from just before HS until around 4th form. The second was Firestorm, a rather more original dragon (see here) that followed through most of the rest of HS. The third is Riku here, who came around about the time I left HS, and he's now my little buddy dragon that I scribble at my course (along with half of my DA pix ) when I'm supposed to be working. Hahaha... like work happens.

Riku's background is a little fuzzy to everyone but myself. That's because I've never really gotten around to telling anyone about him. And now's probably the best chance I'll have. He's the son of King Firetear and Queen Amberwing; both of whom are from the ruling Golden Dragons of the Dragon realm. There are, of course, many other colours and such of dragons, but Gold are the rarest and they are the most profficient in magic, hence why they rule over the Dragon's Realm. Their interaction with humanoids (men, elves, etc...) usually only extends to them treating them all as lesser beings and just generally ignoring them. Which is fine with most, as dragons are pretty fearsome.
Yet, there are always those fascinated and enchanted by dangerous things, and I meet Riku by a pure fluke. During flying lessons, the young dragon makes a mistake and plummets down to the earth, where he crash lands in forest. I happen to be camping nearby (because I was looking for dragons none-the-less ), and after hearing the crash, investigate. I find Riku there unconcious and injured, and nurse the poor little guy back to health. He is a very curious and friendly dragon, and it doesn't take long for him to warm up to me. When his father finds him, he isn't convinced that a human was being nice to his son. Riku sorts out the fuss though, and I end up being allowed to stay in the dragons realm as a friend and somewhat of a learning curve for Riku.
And the rest is history.
